The National Bank of Dominica Ltd. is a leading indigenous bank in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union. We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer with exceptional leadership skills who can effectively and efficiently manage the Finance and Accounting Department of the NBD Group. Our ideal candidate would have a proven track record of excelling in a competitive market and a thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles and automated financial and accounting reporting systems.


As the Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the Managing Director, the individual will provide strategic leadership for the company by working with the Executive Management Team to establish long-range financial and accounting goals, strategies, plans and policies. In addition, the individual will provide sound fiscal advice, effective policy formulation, accurate and comprehensive financial accounts and management reports, and will oversee all finance, accounting, forecasting, budgeting and treasury functions of the NBD Group.


Specific Accountabilities include but are not limited to:


  1. Leading the preparation of the Bank’s strategic and annual business plans.
  2. Preparing and monitoring overall annual budget for the NBD Group.
  3. Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and submission of monthly and year-end financial statements and related information that are IFRS compliant.
  4. Ensuring the effective and profitable management of NBD Group funds.
  5. Effectively and efficiently managing the Bank’s foreign financial operations to include developing financial and budget policies and procedures and managing foreign cash resources and investments.
  6. Working closely with Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), External Auditors, Government officials, other Banks and Financial and related non-financial organisations as required.
  1. vii.Effectively managing the collateral for and disbursement of loans in accordance with established policy and procedures.
  1. Applying appropriate financial risk management strategies.
  2. Effectively and efficiently organising and managing the department’s team and workflow.
  3. Carrying out other duties as may be assigned.



Education, Experience and Skills include:

  • Professional Accounting designation from an accredited body e.g. ACCA, CGA, CMA.
  • A Master’s degree in the field of Accounting, Finance or relevant area.
  • Senior executive with business experience of at least ten (10) years.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IFRS requirements applicable to the banking sector.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and guidelines relating to credit, ECCB, relevant laws and compliance regulations.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and organisation skills.
  • Technically proficient and highly computer literate.
  • Flexible team player with initiative with the ability to work long and irregular hours.
